Jan S. Krogh's Geosite: Latvia - Lithuania Boundary Points

This boundary is the longest of Latvia and second-longest of Lithuania. The border of 2000 compared with the 1930 boundary until 26°24'24"E differs only on some minor points; as at the Lūšis - Vainode Railway Bridge (LTLV-0365-0367), Lūšis Dam (LTLV-0443-0444), Klykoliai Dam (LTLV-0621-0622), and Milvydžiai (LTLV-0850-0850C).
The boundary east of 26°24'24"E and until the present BYLTLV tripoint which until WW II was under Polish administration follows the same boundary line as the Latvian-Polish boundary with a small adjustment at Turmantas Railway Station (LTLV-1521-1522). ⁵⁾

The first Latvian-Lithuanian Border Treaty was signed in 1921, but the demarcation works lasted from 1929-30. This 1927 photo is from the boundary at Ceraukste rural municipality. This map from the Bauska - Saločiai border compares the 1921-1930 Latvian-Lithuanian administration line with the present boundary. From 1929-1930 the boundary was demarcated and at very many places the border line was adjusted, at some places with 500-700 metres in order so farms could be placed on the other side of the border line.
