Jan S. Krogh's Geosite: Latvia - Lithuania Boundary Points LTLV-1453-1454 (Stelmužė, LT / Rauda, LV)

 

The boundary from east towards west. The Lithuanian village of  Stelmužė is situated 880 m ahead, while the village of Rauda in Latvia is located 3,1 km northeast. The roads on both sides are unpaved and very narrow local village roads.

Position: 55°49'51" N  26°13'55" E (WGS84).

The boundary follows a ditch or small creek. View towards north.

The vista is visible. Lithuania to the left and Latvia to the right.

The same area photographed from a few metres into Latvia and now we can see bm. 1452 at the edge of the forrest, 190 m from the road.

The boundary vista towards south is partly overgrown.

From a position a few metres into Lithuania we could see bm. no 1455, 110 m from the road.

The Lithuanian border station and its tower was located about 375 m from the border.
