The border in direction towards Lithuania.
Boundary marker 1256.

Position: 56° 09' 24"N 25° 30' 27"E.

The border in direction towards Latvia. To the right is the small farmstead of Muitnieki.

A photo from about 1930 photographed from the same place and in the same direction as the picture above.  In the second half of the 1920s many smugglers were caught here.  (Source: Gimtasis Rokiškis.)

The Lithuanian insignia of the border marker.

Photo towards north and the divided lake. The Lithuanian name in 1927, Ilzenbergo ežeras, is now replaced with Ilgės ežeras. The old Latvian name, Ilzes ezers, is now Ilzu ezers.

Border map from 2012. Since 1927 Starka Island has increased in size and is now divided by the boundary. (Source: LGIA)

Comparing the 1927 (above) and 2000 border maps one can see that the 2000 lake border line is more straight. The river outlet is now not straight as in 1927, but S-shaped.

The point was visited in August 2014.
