Five
Azeri exclaves in Armenia:
– two west and west-southwest
of the town of Qazax: Yukhari Askipara and Barkhudali
– two
exclaves which are tiny pieces of farmland west of the Azeri town of Tovuz:
Jaradollo
– one exclave north of the Azeri exclave of Nakhichevan: Kiarki
Although
the Armenian maps do not show the two large enclaves in the north, the
Azeri maps do. All five exclaves have been controlled by Armenia since
their capture in May 1992 during the Nagorno-Karabakh War.
Therefore, we expect Azerbaijan also claims the two small Jaradollo exclaves.
The
Nakhichevan exclave, belongs to Azerbaijan
and is an autonomous region
landlocked by Armenian, Iranian and Turkish territory [and is therefore not an
enclave].
