1) Northernmost international land border point: The
Finnish-Norwegian border between Polmak (Norway) and Nuorgam (Finland) on
70°05'32"N 27°57'00"E at boundary marker 343 in the middle of the
River Tana. A few hundred meters towards east where the road (Finnish number 970 and
Norwegian number 895) passes the Finnish-Norwegian border is the northernmost
land border crossing point. [1]
2) Southernmost international land border point: The
Argentine-Chilean border on the southern coast of Tierra del Fuego in Canal
Beagle, west of the Argentine town of Ushuaia and north of the Chilean island of
Ile Hoste.
The southernmost border marker is located on 54°53'34"S 68°36'30"W, but
the southernmost land borderpoint is wet and located in the territorial sea at 54°54'50"S
68°36'30"W about 2500 m
further south–southeast.
3) The lowest elevation of
a land border: It follows the Israeli-Jordanian, the
Jordanian - Palestinian and Israeli - Palestinian boundary lines in the Dead
Sea. (Palestine is Israeli occupied, but not claimed by Israel.) In 2013 the sea level was 427 metres below sea level.
