Mr. Kostas Kezenis (right), head of Girenai
border cordon and GeoSite's editor (left) at the northern side of the old
Soviet - Polish border fence where an old wooden observation was located.
The fence was built by and during the
Soviet Union in order to stop Soviet citizens to escape from the country.
It still exists because it is too expensive to destroy, and it also helps
to reduce the number of asylum seekers to West Europe.
